Music...

Praise & Worship...Choir...Drama......Christmas and Easter...Serious Fun! These are all words that could be used to describe what's going on in the Worship Ministries Department here at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene. Under the direction of our Music Minister, there are lots of opportunities for involvement in the worship and arts ministry of this local church, and it's a good thing, because the Lord has blessed us with an abundance of talent!

Sanctuary Choir, Children's Choir. Take your pick. At different times of the year, opportunities exist for just about any age person to participate in a choir! The Sanctuary Choir is open to older teens and all adults. Regular rehearsals are on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 in the Choir Room, and the best way to get involved is to start coming!

Worship Services are held each Sunday at 10:45 and 6:30 p.m. Pastor Wayne serves as Worship Leader (unless it is a special emphasis service) and opportunities exist for musicians through the special music schedule, praise teams, and service accompanists.

The Christmas Festival: "The Spirit of Christmas" - This event has been established as an bi-annual event that involves the whole church. The Sanctuary Choir will prepare a musical piece that will be dynamic and well done. You will really enjoy the quality of their work! There is also a drama that is presented that will provide opportunity for all ages to share their gifts and talents through drama ministry. Downstairs you will discover an array of lighted and decorated Christmas trees, ceramics, antique dolls or quilts, or toys, or tools or Nativities or a variety of other things that helps us relive the "Spirit of Christmas."

Journey Through Christmas: The Living Nativity - Visitors to our nativity re-creation drive through in their cars, as they view (8) different scenes that dramatically portray the Christmas story. From Gabriel's annunciation to Mary, through the baby in a manager, the story of God's birth into this world is portrayed in full costume, with a few animals and outdoor set to give the most realistic picture possible. "Journey" ends with three crosses on a hill, reminding us that Jesus' journey was just beginning when He was born into a stable on that starry night. This event occurs on the opposite years of the The Christmas Festival.

Annual Easter musical and drama presentation, a full-scale pageant depicting the life of Christ, and the events surrounding his death and resurrection. Featuring a cast of adults, teenagers and children, musicians, dramatists, and live animals, the story of Easter comes to life on the Sanctuary stage.

Special Music Services and Concerts are also under the scope of Worship Ministries. Throughout the year, different services emphasize musical and dramatic talent, including "Talent Night" and "Southern Gospel Music Night." Guest artists are also brought in from time to time, and concerts and presented for the community and surrounding areas.

The youth ministry @ Guymon Nazarene is called At Your Service youth ministry - based on Matthew 20:28. Each Wednesday night our youth gather for a night of outreach and worship. This time consists of games, high-energy praise and worship from our youth led praise band, a message from God’s word, and awesome fellowship with other teens. Every Sunday morning there are age level Sunday school classes available for teens 7th -12th grade. Throughout the year our teens have several great trips and activities including: Summer Camp, Fall Retreat, pariticpation in District and Regional youth events, and many more. There are some new things in store for this ministry in the months ahead. We desire our youth to strive to be all they can for God and celebrate the awesome joy of being teens in His service. If you are a teen in the 7th -12th grade come and join the fun of AT YOUR SERVICE youth ministry.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES: ( Back to Top )

We are so excited about the children in our church and community. Each child has so much energy and potential to give to God and allow Him to shape and use it. We strive to challenge our children with biblically-based, creative and intentional teaching and activities. We want our children to experience the stories and teachings of God’s Word because these stories are in fact our very own.

We believe that children need to have opportunities, even at young ages, to minister in Jesus' name to people around them. We believe that our children will experience the fullness of God’s transformation as they worship Him in service. How exciting it is to be an instrument of God's grace and peace! As our children begin to serve at young ages, a foundation will be laid for a lifestyle of Christ-like compassion.

It is our hope and pray that each child will become a healthy, well-rounded Christian whose communion with God permeates every aspect of his/her life (school, extra-curricular activities, relationships).

These are just some of the many activities and programs that we plan for our children each week: Nursery: we provide a safe, secure, and loving environment for our little ones; Sunday School: our children are divided into age group classes to study the Biblical story and participate in a variety of activities; Children’s Church: there are age-appropriate worship services for our children during the Morning Worship Service: Wednesday Night: we have a fun, exciting program for our children planned where they learn more about being well-rounded Christians through a variety of activities and games. Our mission as defined by Jesus is to take the gospel into the whole world. Our local congregation, as part of the International Church of the Nazarene, is committed to world evangelism, supporting it with our prayers and financial giving. Opportunities for involvement include:
